Re: Perth Mint Lunar Series 2 Silver
I can't answer your question but I recently bought a 5 ounce 2010 Tiger from Apmex. Looks to be a really nice looking coin. They are now sold out:bawling:

Released in September. http://forums.silverstackers.com/viewtopic.php?id=293 The proofs over $A80 http://forums.silverstackers.com/viewtopic.php?id=311 I bought 5oz Lunars and the mint has already stopped orders on them. Hopefully they will be too busy minting kilos when they recommence orders. Prices has gone up considerably since the mint stopped taking orders. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT |
Re: Perth Mint Lunar Series 2 Silver
Perth mint only sells proofs. That's how they make their money. bu coins are sold to dealers.

Re: Perth Mint Lunar Series 2 Silver
Does anyone else find the design of the 2010 tiger to be disappointing? I know the design quality of the series has wavered, but I find this issue to be particularly unattractive. I will buy one (2 oz) to have a complete collection, but I'm not inspired to buy multiples.
The 2010 Kookaburra, on the other hand, is really a nice design - but I'm upset they don't seem to have plans for the 2 oz coin. I find the 2 oz size so much more satisfying, and have gone out of my way to collect all the previous Kooks in the 2 ounce size. I feel like I got a lot more bang for my buck with the 2 oz - the additional cost is not much, but the mintages are much lower - plus they're just nicer to hold! Does anyone know if they intend to add it later in the year? I'm just disappointed in the Perth mint this year. |
Re: Perth Mint Lunar Series 2 Silver
Here in Europe the BU Tiger Lunar is on sale on sale since mid-September, but with delivery only from late September.
As you can guess from my nickname, I am a Tiger, and I find the Australian silver lunars quite interesting (both I series and II series), especially when compared to the gold design or with other lunar series. One pretty Tiger design is the one minted in 1986 by Singapore. |

I don't know if they do additional sizes of proof coins. |
Re: Perth Mint Lunar Series 2 Silver
the series II Tiger is a decent looking coin, not real ferocious but then you don't want to mess with a big cat like those dufuses (sp?) did at the SF Zoo :p I don't think you can go wrong buying the Tigers - they will be coveted and collected.

A member of another forum that I post on, buy volume and resells them at a discount. He has to buy a minimum of 100 1/10 oz gold lunars and undercuts the Perth Mint listed price by 10% and Downies by 20% If you live in Australia, his prices are probably the best I have found for these gold lunars. The thread lists prices in Aussie dollars http://forums.silverstackers.com/viewtopic.php?id=336 |
